Terms and Conditions of Bike Rental
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the rental of bicycles and related equipment from Alicante Bikes (“the Company”, “we”, “our”) by the person or entity renting (“the Customer”, “you”). By making a booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Booking & Payment
1.1. Bookings are subject to availability and are only confirmed upon receipt of full payment or the agreed deposit.
1.2. Prices are as stated on our website and include VAT (if applicable).
1.3. We reserve the right to refuse any booking at our sole discretion.
2. Identification & Security Deposit
2.1. At the time of collection, you must present:
- A valid passport or national ID card

A valid credit card for the security deposit
2.2. The security deposit amount of €250 per bike.
2.3. The deposit will be released once the equipment is returned in satisfactory condition.
3. Use of the Bicycle
3.1. You are responsible for the bicycle from the time of collection until its return.
3.2. The bicycle may not be:
- Sublet or loaned to another person
- Used for competitive racing unless authorised in writing
- Used under the influence of alcohol or drugs
3.3. Road Use Only. Hired road bicycles must not be used off-road or on unpaved surfaces. Gravel use, downhill, or trails are strictly prohibited unless the rental bike is a gravel bike.
3.4 Compliance with Spanish Road Laws. The Renter agrees to abide by all Spanish road rules, including:
- Helmets are mandatory outside urban areas and strongly recommended at all times.
- Use of lights during low visibility conditions is required.
- Use of mobile phones while riding is strictly prohibited.
- Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal.
4. Condition & Maintenance
4.1. The bicycle will be delivered in good working order. You must check and accept its condition before departure.
4.2. You are responsible for basic care during the rental, including keeping it secured when unattended.
4.3. Any mechanical issues must be reported to us immediately. Continuing to ride with a known issue may make you liable for further damage.
5. Loss, Theft, and Damage
5.1. You are responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to the bicycle and equipment during the rental period.
5.2. In the event of theft, you must provide a police report.
5.3. Repairs carried out by third parties without our consent will not be reimbursed.
6. Liability & Insurance
6.1. You acknowledge that cycling involves inherent risks and you accept full responsibility for your safety.
6.2. We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage suffered during the rental, except where caused by our negligence.
6.3. You are strongly advised to have personal travel insurance that covers cycling activities and third-party liability.
7. Cancellations & Refunds
7.1. Cancellations made more than 7 before the rental start date will be refunded in full.
7.2. Cancellations made between 7 days and 48 hours before the rental start date will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
7.2. Cancellations made in the final 48 hours before the rental start date will not be reimbursed.
7.3. No refunds are given for early returns.
8. Return of Equipment
8.1. Bicycles must be returned at the agreed time and location. Late returns may incur additional charges.
8.2. The bicycle must be returned in the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear and tear.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alicante.
